More elderly homes maintained by Budapest are introducing tightened measures due to the threat of the pandemic.

None of the elderly homes of Budapest have any active coronavirus infections at the moment, but due to the rising number of cases all over the country, the Heads of the Institutions consider it justified to introduce tightened measures to strengthen the protection of the elderly and vulnerable people in nursing homes.

Therefore – based on the initiative of the Head of the Institutions – at today’s meeting of the Operative Board, a ban on visiting and leaving the three homes maintained by the Municipality of Budapest was issued from September 1: at the Alacska street elderly home, at the Halom street elderly home and the Szombathelyi elderly home – declared Erzsébet Gy. Németh, Deputy Mayor responsible for the area.

The maintainer continuously monitors the epidemiological protocols, and the compliance of the 9-point instructions issued by the Mayor. Institutions have enough protective equipment and disinfectants to last for many weeks and residents and workers are regularly tested for coronavirus.
