Following the meeting of the Budapest Operative Board, the Municipality of Budapest introduced restrictive measures in order to help stop the pandemic. Alongside the ban on visits and curfew in social institutions, the protection of the cultural institutions has also been strengthened. From now on, not wearing, or not properly wearing a mask on public transport can lead to a fine.
The members of the Budapest Operative Board have consulted with Gyula Kincses, president of the Hungarian Medical Chamber about the measures to slow down the pandemic. They considered what factors of the prevention require special attention and studied the public analyses requested by the government. These actions led to the following decision.
The Municipality of Budapest:
- improves the testing capacity in its social institutions, homeless- and elderly care,
- makes it mandatory to wear a mask at markets, in cultural institutions operated by the Municipality of Budapest, in museums, libraries, archives, cinemas, theatres, in Budapest Cultural Centre and in the indoor areas of Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden,
- orders a ban from the transportation with an additional HUF 8000 fine if not or not properly wearing a face mask on public transport.
