Budapest is offering 10,000 antigen tests for the free, voluntary testing of its citizens. The antigen testing will be offered at two locations for ten days between February 18-27, and the results will be available in 30 minutes.
The COVID test program of Budapest will continue between February 18-27 at two locations, in the Városháza Park (District V) and Széll Kálmán Square. The testing takes place every day between 8 AM to 6 PM. Only residents with a Budapest address or residence can apply for the testing. Individuals under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. 30 minutes after the testing parties will be informed as to whether they are actively infected or not.
Please register at: https://koronavirus.budapest.hu/teszt-eloregisztracio, where you can find information about the venue and the exact time of your test. Those without internet connection who are unable to book an appointment online will have the possibility to do so at the testing venue with the help of volunteers from the Municipality.
It’s important to know that a negative test result does not provide complete safety, as it only shows the momentary situation, so it is important to continue to follow the safety measures even in possession of a negative result. In case of a positive result the person in question will be asked to quarantine to prevent further infections and start their treatment in time.
The testing will always be carried out by healthcare professionals and the organization of the program will be carried out by volunteers.
In December, just before the holidays, the Municipality of Budapest offered 7,500 free antigen tests to people above 18 with a residence card. After the testing the volunteers of the Municipality asked the participants how satisfied they were with the service provided. 94% of those asked thought the testing was very useful. Most participants were fully satisfied with the organization of the procedure as well. 90% of those asked would recommend the testing to others, and thought the application process was simple and smooth.
Mass testing is the biggest weapon against the spread of coronavirus, as long as there isn’t a vaccine available to all. Just like other major cities in Europe, Budapest is committed to the support and promotion of vaccines. Only a widespread vaccination can provide a way out of this pandemic, it’s the only solution to save ourselves and our fellow citizens from the coronavirus pandemic and return to the life we had previously.
