Mayor Gergely Karácsony and Deputy Mayor Erzsébet Gy. Németh held a joint press conference on Wednesday on the decisions of the Budapest Operational Task Force. From 2 November, a curfew will take effect in care homes operated by the Municipality.
Alongside the ban on visits and curfew in social institutions, the protection of the cultural institutions has also been strengthened. From now on, not wearing, or not properly wearing a mask on public transport can lead to a fine.
Budapest once again showed its solidarity, and a special working group, led by Deputy Mayor Gábor Kerpel-Fronius, was set up to coordinate and receive any help offered to Budapest and its people.
The leadership of the municipality consulted with health and epidemiology experts and is in continuous contact with the district mayors and the management of Budapest’s companies.
